THE URGEIST MOVEMENT:

When, my friend, is the time of your greatest victory? Where will the sun rise when it is still night? Dawn paints the pain of your sacred horizon; upon its shores lies war, the golden glow of war.

War is the eye to your greatest victory. Verily, it sees truth: All flowers at your feet and each tree and bear and worm – where would they be without it?

Too bright is its brilliance for those of you who call yourself brilliant and so you hide in the shadows of your homes which is the darkness of your minds.

And how many of you suffered from your lack of suffering and flew like maddened moths into the burning eye of war, to escape war? And how many of you waged war on war itself?

And that burning flame you have seen – that violent single star – sometimes it is there and at other times it isn’t. Sometimes we wage war and at other times we sleep and sing in peace – but both call on us to fight!

Peace knows how to fight best but battle is the accident of peace.

And violence is the flame that will take us to the stars, but only violence to the stars!

Too long has this night now lasted and my lonely wandering through woods and mist by dawn. And there, by the sunrise, I saw the end of compassion and the end of compassion with self, indifference to self, the self’s highest happiness.

It was this sunrise also that taught to me of tolerance. Tolerance and indifference are what make up that mountain called power. Stand on its peak for the sunrise!

Stand my friend and do not wander! For too many of you are still nomads of the nights, traveling to escape the day: They teach the foolish sageness that life is a problem to be solved…

You speak of hope? I sing of power! For if anything weren’t power, could it even be? What else is there therefore to hope?

But it are always the powerless who want power. That is their will to power. The greatest will to power is to not will power! Crawl towards this peak I stand on! Beware that I do not kick you off!

And those of you who dream of war, you are the worst warriors. For is suffering not the origin of all dreams?

And those few of you who still fight for the truth, share my vision of dawn: Sometimes, when the wind rose I heard in it the faint trace of a voice! And as clouds covered the firmament I saw in them the grand face of a new religion!

A religion of war and a god of war is the madness and joy of youth! Greet the sunrise with madness! For loud is the sound of your greatest victory and sacred the silence thereafter...

Hey Urgeist, have a look at this essay, written from a chaos magickian’s perspective:
    http://www.spiralnature.com/magick/chaos/sigservgod.html
It makes exactly the point that characterizes my view on magick, i.e., that ritual and ceremony are tools that are not as such need and can become a hindrance, preventing one from progressing further.
Of course, ceremony and ritual can serve a theatrical and aesthetic purpose which can on their own be beneficial, but i think its important not to mistake that with the magick that is actually just modifying structures through focussed intent.
