The Two Polirities

April 1, 2012

There is an old question amongst the more nerdy type of friends I have: do you like Fantasy or Science Fiction?

I do not object to dreaming. Imagination gives you control. It is the greatest tool for Astral Tavel or of any working magickian. Some of us can see with three eyes?

Today I think there are two poliraties. Many groups in the Black Metal movement or more traditionalist circles have sophisticated ideas that are often based o a simple romanticization of the past. Us futurists like to look foward and upwards, to the economy, speed and thunder of automobiles and lifghts under a dark sky. We dream of becoming technology.

Evola’s famous distinction between the Modern and Traditional does not hold ground to scientific / epistemic scrutiny- these categories are not natural kinds, they do not hold water. But, they are useful, since they reveal a polarity that makes sense to construct.

Do you like Fantasry or do you Like Science Fiction? Do you like the Future or do you like the past? Are you progressive or conservative?

Or, are you a dialectician? Do you know how to conceive and shape the future?

We are certainly all against stupidy, the spiritual sloppiness of the herd, those whom we sek to master (by mastering ourselves). We, us who dream of shaping the world. Not really for the sake of power or fame, but because we are haunted by our imagination.

Everything is a dance. Philosophy misses so much. Poetry is foften wiser. I would rather listen to the song of a bird than a lecture on Hegel. Certainly, most birds are more beautiful than your average professor.

FUCK society. FUCK being controlled. FUCK doing things you do not love. And, everything becomes a dance.

Who Owns the Stars?

March 30, 2012

Who owns the stars? Or, the famous political question: who owns what?

As many people active politically know, current policy seems to be trapped in an arm wrestling match between governmnet regulation (ie having beaurocracies decide the price of goods and services) or having a market do this. Those who favor government argue that elected officials are accountable to the people whose policies they affect whilst markets are closer to the decisions that are being make, consequently more effective and beneficial publically since those that accrue money can then make capital investments.

But, if we were to advance an anti light pollution campaign, who pays for the stars? In a sense this is a question we need to ask ourselfves, as a society.

First off, I would have to point out that not answering this question, ie ignorigin it, is also giving an answer.

Second, we could either have the government use tax money to deploy low light polluting emitting technolgy (ie good lightbulds) or we could have the private sector give it a shot. But, what would they do?

How could a corporation exclude people (ie have those who cannot pay) not see the night sky?

Respect your elders

March 29, 2012

Wisdom is hindsight, the ability to surmize and crystallize an experience in afterthought. Once one has lived through it and knows it. Hind sight is 20/20.

Therefore, wisdom is also learning from this hindsight. That is the treasure wearing down the weary body of society’s elders. They know that they know so little.

Respect your elders. They have a lto to teach. understand their worldview, merge it with yours. Expand your philosophical horizons. Grow in philosophical power. Wisdom enlightenes your world, as a sun that is rising.

Some people learn from their own mistakes, but even less learn from the mistakes of others. Luistening to our Elders means learning from the experiences of others.

But, of course, question what they say. After all, you want to become wiser than them.
